That was the title of a blog post I read about a year and a half ago. I’ve reread it several times since. The article pierced my heart with conviction when I first read it, and still does.
In fact, there are three articles I’ve read in the last few years that I’ve found very humbling (and at the same time encouraging) in my own sometimes faltering quest to faithfully share the gospel. All three of these articles have one thing in common–they’re all honest admissions of failure.
I want to give you a link to those articles, but first I have a question.
Have you ever thought about why you don’t evangelize?
I’d like for you to share your thoughts in the comments.
And I would like to repent and change, right along with you. We need each other. Here are the articles:
M. Patterson said:
Why I don’t evangelize…because I’m just plain chicken. I don’t have the guts to build the relationships needed for evangelism.
Tom said:
I think that I don’t evangelize simply because I’m often too lazy too. Which is sad…especially since I have a desire to evangelize and witness to people!

Tom and M. Patterson,
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Pray for me, and count on my prayers for you.
Dr. Bruce said:
I it the most common fear in Christianity. Victory is motivated by love from within and never from external guilt.
Barry Wallace said:
Thanks, Dr. B. It certainly is a common struggle, too common I’m afraid.
I agree that guilt isn’t helpful, but I do believe that genuine conviction of sin leading to repentance is absolutely indispensable.
I continue to find all three articles helpful in that respect, and I offer them in hope that the rest of you do, too.

Hello,
I struggled with getting started witnessing for a long time. After talking to the first several people, it became very enjoyable. I think it is one of the things God made us all to do. When we serve others and serve God, we are happiest.
Thanks,
Bill

witnessing many times is a hard thing to do, first few times I had the blessing of just going and watching my professor do it…
“Evangelism is simply one begger telling another begger where to find bread.”
wow I wish we all had this mentality, sometimes we don’t evangelize because we don’t want to “look bad” but in reality we are doing it for Christ…
God bless

Bill and phillysoul11,
Thanks for sharing.

I’ve always like that quote. I am most certainly a beggar hoping I can help other beggars.
Blessings.
