No, Mr. President: John Piper to President Obama

This will be all over the blogosphere soon, but it’s just too good not to post.  It’s John Piper’s passionate response to President Barack Obama’s position on abortion.

A great message and visual…again from the folks in MN.

I have a question: As Pastor Piper reminds us no matter who the leaders are….God is ultimatly in charge, however, where is the line between leaving things up to God and taking matters is to our limited hands? The Chistian community could rally and march on washington and shut the whole place down (remember Indianapolis Barry?), especially over this issue as this is the one thing the vast majority of professing Christians can agree on. Do we care more about money, ala tea bag rallies and taxes? When do we become guilty of allowing this to happen?

    Anyone?

I would say that two things seem clear to me.

      1) It’s always right to work to relieve suffering and to speak out against evil and injustice.
      2) It’s always wrong to put any confidence in either our own ability to influence the political landscape or in the power of government to stop evil. That doesn’t mean it’s wrong to be involved in the political process (we should be). It means that no aspect of the political process can change even one heart. Only the gospel can do that.

But for a much better answer, I recommend this post by Justin Taylor.
